Get To Know: Emanuela

Meet Emanuela. An immensely gifted and creative artist and songwriter who does not shy from standing out and speaking out, not only lyrically, but also through the sonic edginess varied production that she brings to her music. Her latest studio album 'MADE IN HEAVEN' perfectly encapsulates her vibrant personality. The opening single and title track "Made In Heaven"sets the tone for the rest of the record. Beginning with a dream-like, angelic landscape the single quickly transforms into a glitchy electronic beat with some blips that evoke retro games and old-school sampler-esque synths. Its industrial tone, yet catchy, outrageous and sexy vibes, make this album a perfect representation of Emanuela's artistry. It is the kind of album that surprises you with sonic variety and keeps you on the edge of your seat with its catchy yet unpredictable arrangement.

Tell us about your first live performance? What was it like and how did you feel before and after it?

Well, actually I was in a choir my entire childhood and teenage years, so I've been on a stage since I was a little girl, but my first performance with my own music was very fun and fresh to me. Finally being on a stage and singing my own lyrics and my own melodies felt so good and right for me. But being on a stage is an experience that contains not only good emotions, it comes with a lot of stressful feelings as well. Yet in my heart, I always know that this is where I should be.

When writing new material which comes first, lyrics or music?

For me, it's the lyrics. I'm not producing for myself, so I love coming to sessions with written ideas or lyrics. A beat or a melody coming from the production side can definitely inspire the lyrics, so it may change from time to time.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences?

Growing up I was listening to a lot of classical and jazz music, so my biggest inspirations were musicians like Amy Weinhouse, Billie Holiday, and Chopin.

In the past few years pop and hip-hop is what I listen to most - Eartheater, Tommy Genesis, FKA Twigs, Ashnikko, and many more:)

What’s the best advice you’ve received so far in your musical journey?

To work my ass off and to constantly believe in myself.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?

HEART & MIND by KODAK BLACK Ft. PILES. Literally the best song ever.

What do you hope people will get out of listening to your music?

I hope that the people who listen to my music will be able to feel the emotions I was trying to convey in the songs, and find their own way to relate to it. To get inspired by it or to just have fun while listening.

Lastly, what can we expect for the rest of the year?

After my album will be released, I really want to enjoy it and to play with it as much as I can! also..more new music!! and much different from everything I've ever done. XO
